Advanced Imaging - Be Well.

PET/CT Scans

PET/CTA Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography scan (PET/CT) is a highly advanced imaging tool, which combines two types of imaging into one procedure. It allows physicians to diagnose problems, and enables them to foresee the likely outcome of different treatment options. In essence, PET/CT scans help identify the best approach. Plus, progress can be monitored and, if the patient is not responding as well as expected, a more effective therapy can be immediately implemented.

Our state-of-the-art GE DSTE-16 system features an open-view design to reduce patient claustrophobia, 16-slice CT capabilities for unsurpassed imagery, and an industry-leading 90 cm scan length allowing for true whole-body imaging for most patients in one scan. This technology allows us to maintain our commitment to reducing report turnaround times and increasing patient convenience.

PET/CT scans are used for:

Cancer: to detect as well as to determine if and where the disease has spread. It is also used to monitor the progress of a therapy plan and to reveal any recurrences after treatment.

Brain Disorders: to evaluate abnormalities, such as tumors, memory disorders and seizures and other central nervous system disorders stemming from Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy and others.

Heart Disease: to identify areas of the heart that would benefit from angioplasty or coronary artery bypass surgery.
